3 Simple Ways to Connect with Nature
With everything that's been happening this year, I know a lot of us are feeling a little stir-crazy stuck indoors. The fact that houseplants have been flying off shelves should show us we don't just want to get out of the house — we want to connect with nature!
Whether you're able to get outside or not, here are some simple ways you can rebuild your relationship with Mother Earth:
Wake up with the sun.
A 2019 study found that exposure to morning sunlight results in greater alertness. Morning light exposure can also lead to better sleep, which can have a cascade effect on mood the next day. Keep blinds or curtains open at night to prepare.
Start an herb or vegetable garden.
I'm fortunate to have space at our farm to grow beautiful, tasty veggies. But even if you're in a tiny apartment, you can start with a single herb, or a vertical-growing plant such as tomatoes, to kickstart your nurturing relationship with the planet.
Be mindful of and give gratitude to the life force the Earth has given you throughout the day.
As you eat your meals, drink your water, or even when you do your skincare routine, take a moment to consider how the planet provides for you every day.
